OKLAHOMA CITY – I am waiting for my friend Cary to pick me up so we can go watch Batman v Superman. I had no intention of supporting this movie financially, but I was kind of guilted into doing it by my friend Lauren. So, going into it, I want to make a couple of predictions. Continue reading
OKLAHOMA CITY – Okay, so I realize that for many reading this, the Star Wars series is the greatest series in movie history. I further realize that many fans probably like the Star Wars series as much or more than they like their own children. And these people really, really love their children.
As such, I don’t see any point in trying to convince anyone that Star Wars: The Force Awakens isn’t super amazingly awesome and fabulous. That would be like me trying to convince a parent that his child isn’t wonderful, except even more so.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Much has been written about the “surprising” success of War Room. The fact is, producers/brothers Stephen and Alex Kendrick have been surprising industry observers for years, so much so that Christianity-based movies are now a known quantity. Indeed, many writers have begun producing counter-stories about how unsurprising it is that such a blatantly Christian movie would be successful.
OKLAHOMA CITY – My friend Mattress recently asked me what my favorite movie is this year. There could be only one answer. “Inside Out,” I replied, not hesitating. To some, it may seem strange that an adult man would claim a “children’s” movie as his favorite; but, when said children’s movie is a masterpiece, one is left with no other choice. I suppose I could pick a more suitable “adult” film just to fit social morays, but then I would be lying, and we know that is improper.
“…scary only in the sum of instincts and talent for movie-making that have been lost.”

OKLAHOMA CITY – I cannot recommend Mad Max: Fury Road enough. My buddy Cary and I caught an 11:15 AM showing (I don’t remember the last time I caught a morning screening), and even though it wasn’t showing in the grandest movie house (being displaced by Tomorrowland), it was still spectacular. The purest action film I’ve seen in years, it has wonderful practical effects, well-integrated CGI, solid acting, piquant music, a fun script, lots of general creativity, and marvelous pacing. In all, it is a great movie. 8.5/10
OKLAHOMA CITY – I recently watched Furious 7 with Brazle, Ryan, Miriam, Miriam’s sister and Krystin, and as expected, it is, along with the previous six installments, the greatest movie ever made. The acting, music, script, action, cinematography and family motifs were all the best that this world has ever been able to, can currently or will ever be able to produce. To top it all, the film features a touching sendoff to Paul Walker. In short, this movie is literally the greatest ever.
